In addition to personalities such as Beethoven, Bach, Schumann, Mendelssohn and Brahms, who went down in history as virtuosi of classical music, artists such as Paul Klee, Joseph Beuys, Gerhard Richter, Jörg Immenhof, Katharina Sieverding and Andreas Gursky also created life plans, which opposed the contemporary conventions of society by their lateral thinking genius and thus paved the way for the pluralistic, individualistic and creative free spirit of our modernity.

Rhineland Academy of Arts Düsseldorf (RAKD) supports international art students in applying to major art and music academies in Germany and preparing for the entrance examinations of these academies. In addition to the corresponding specialisation courses, our partner company Studienkolleg Düsseldorf also offers German language courses and internationally recognised language certificates which are necessary for studying in Germany. Foreign applicants who already have a higher education entrance qualification for Germany and have been granted a place in their desired course of study must usually take the “German Language Test for the Higher Education Admission of Foreign Applicants” (DSH). This examination takes place at the university that has offered the place of study. Here, too, we are there to help you get started as smoothly as possible. Although RAKD is still very young, it has a highly professional teaching staff. In cooperation with renowned music and art colleges, RAKD engages art professors and teachers for targeted consulting.
All-round service and supporting programme
Rhineland Academy of Arts Düsseldorf offers international applicants of all ages an all-round service that enables them to concentrate on learning from day one: We support them in applying for their visas, arrange for them to be picked up at the airport, arrange health and liability insurance and find them a suitable apartment or room in a shared flat. Last but not least, we organise an integrative supporting programme, through which they get to know the country and its people in an authentic way.
